Limestone as a Countertop Material

This stone is often perceived as modern or contemporary in mood, making it perfect for a minimalist setting.

Limestone Color Variations

Formed by the sedimentary process underground and in riverbeds, you will often find characteristic seashells ans fossils enbedded in the surface. While it shares a color range similar to that of travertine, it is, for the most part, devoid of holes and depressions. Cream, ivory, gold, sand, and smoky blue-gray are the predominant shades found within this stone's color palette.

Beauty and Functionality

To guard against staining, it is wise to seal limestone's surface, and be sure to use extra caution when working with acidic substances. Some limestone types are considered soft, therefore extra care must be taken not to nick their surfaces with sharp objects or knifes. Some limestones are very dense and hard and can be incorporated with little concern for scratching and staining. Don't be afraid to select this stone as your countertop surface, as it is truly a wonderful material that will age gracefully over the years.
